- 19 Dec: Friends Of Canada Film Lovers Network
Dearest friends-film lovers! As you may have already guessed, we are planning
to see THE MASTER at DANAOS cinema this Wednesday 19/12. The film is said to be
one of the best this year. After the cinema we are suggesting a small cafe
nearby, VANILIA KAI KANELLA for a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, etc, but
mainly for a chat about the film-we suspect there will be lots to talk about.
ONE PROBLEM: The ADEDY have announced a strike that day, they have not said
anything about means of transport yet, so, if such a problem occurs, we'll let
you know in due time. Otherwise, we suggest 19/12 at Danaos 109, Kifissias ave.
(access by Bus, trolley bus & Metro Panormou) at 19.45.
Every Wednesday tickets cost 5 euros at Danaos, so we should be there around
19.15 to make sure there are tickets available for everyone who comes. Please
apply at tsitsipi@gmail.com just to give us an idea how many there will
be, and so that we can contact you if our plans must change.

hold a short Christmas Themed Meeting, after which we will hold our Christmas

professional and fun environment.

- 19 Dec: Default Company - Weather tales
What would we do if we woke up one day and all the colours were gone? Well, the
same thing, clearly, that the heroes of Alexis Kyritsopoulos’ Fairytale of
colours do: we’d rush to the ends of the Earth in search of the Rainbow to
bring them back—because life’s unbearable in black and white. Eight musicians
and dancers set off on a treasure hunt, talking, singing, dancing and playing
their way through an adventure that will lead them into the unknown. Along the
way, they will walk through images, test their wits against magnitudes and
scales, acquaint themselves with shapes and the shapeless, keep their balance
on some occasions and fall flat on their faces on others. The default company, a
group of young people who met in theatre school in Thessaloniki and travelled
to Berne and London to broaden their artistic horizons, come to Athens
determined to make us wonder: might we already be living our lives in black and
white?

- to 28 Dec: The Nutcracker at Olympia Theater
The National Greek Opera presents one of the most beautiful Christmas stories,
"The Nutcracker". In "The Nutcracker" the line between
dream and reality is blurred. Tchaikovsky's legendary ballet will be presented
with a new choreography by Renato Zanella, based on the libretto adapted from
E.T.A. Hoffman's "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King", while Act II
will include music from the Overture-Fantasy Romeo and Juliet by Tchaikovsky.
In this new production of the Greek National Opera Ballet, the choreography
focuses on Clara's dream, a dramatic coming of age through love and fear. Body
The distinguished German set and costume designer Christof Cremer will be
responsible for the sets and costumes, his aim being to create a dreamlike
atmosphere worthy of the famous tale.
